Letter from the President
Dear Members of the Kenilworth Home and Garden Club,
It is truly an honor and privilege for me to serve my second year as this Club’s President. There is an energy here that we have not seen in a number of years! We continue to honor its traditions, placing love of home, garden and philanthropy as our guideposts, while opening our minds to new ideas and welcoming new members into our ranks.
As it has been for decades, the strength of our Club is the members, and we continue to boast a membership full of women who are giving of their time, gifts and talents.
This year, we plan to renew involvement in our cherished, hands-on philanthropic efforts, by opening our season with a hands-on weeding activity at Mahoney Park. Our dear member, Valerie Foradas has thoughtfully and lovingly represented our Club’s commitment to Mahoney almost single-handedly for years, and it’s time for the rest of us to join her in her labor of love and for many of us to realize what a gem we have in the beauty of Mahoney Park.
Nancy Burden and Julie Ruck have been hard at work this summer planning our programs for the year. We will continue to enjoy the fellowship of our tried-and-true philanthropic programs, while also learning about trends in real estate and designing beautiful holiday garlands. The biggest event of the year, however, will be in January as we have the honor of hosting the Combined Garden Club luncheon for all four of Kenilworth’s Garden Clubs! This is our moment to shine; to show the rest of our community what makes our Club special and different from the rest and how our values have propelled us into over 100 years of Kenilworth tradition! Nancy has secured a wonderful presenter who will talk to us about the “Journey of the Monarch,”
incredible garden creatures who are so beautifully delicate, yet strong to endure such a journey, and crucial to the pollination of a colorful garden. For this event to be a success, we will need full participation in many different ways, and I look forward to all of us working together to create a memorable day.
As always, I thank each of you for your individual contributions to our Club and I am excited for all this year has to offer us!
With respect and gratitude,
Angie Veber
